- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure the organization procures goods and services at the best possible price and quality.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
- Oversee the procurement process from requisition to purchase order issuance, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through analysis of spending patterns, market trends, and supplier negotiations.
- Assess and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, supplier non-compliance, and other potential issues that may impact procurement activities.
- Manage contract lifecycle including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and legal requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to junior purchasing staff, oversee their work, and contribute to their professional development.
- Prepare reports on key performance indicators, budget tracking, and other relevant metrics to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement in the procurement function.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to procurement activities.
- Stay informed about industry best practices, new technologies, and market trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation in the procurement function.
- Overall, as a Senior Purchasing Specialist, you play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, optimizing costs, and driving value for the organization through effective sourcing and supplier management practices.
Educational Requirements, Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent related field experience preferred.
• 5+ years of Supply Chain Experience
• APICS Certification a plus
• Strong analytical and decision making skills in forecasting, planning, and inventory management.
• High Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.)
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written.)
• Ability to influence and work through cross-functional teams without formal authority.
• Understanding of cost reduction initiatives and strategies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent related field experience preferred.
