Job Title: Purchasing Specialist

Location: Springfield, VA (On-site)

PD Power Systems seeks a Senior Purchasing Specialist to join its team of qualified, diverse professionals. The successful applicant will become part of PD Power Systems' Corporate staff in the Springfield, VA, headquarters.

The successful candidate will be highly-motivated, have previous purchasing experience, preferably in Government contracting. Previous DoD experience is highly-desired. This position reports to the Vice President of Contracts.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Author and maintain purchasing policy for the company.
• Lead company-wide procurement efforts.
• Ensure compliance with all purchasing and cost accounting requirements.
• Review purchasing requisitions to ensure best value trade-offs.
• Where needed, obtain additional product quotes.
• Maintain company's purchasing process and procedure Quality Management System documents to ensure continued ISO certification.
• Support project accounting functions for maintenance of contract and subcontract files.
• Close out completed POs.
• Manage domestic and international freight shipments - must be familiar with procedures for international deliveries
• Travel: Minimal to none.

Experience and Education:

• BA or BS degree in a related field required (experience may be traded for education).
• Minimum of 2 years of Government contracting/subcontracting work or purchasing experience.

Technical Skills:

• Working knowledge of the FAR/DFAR and cost accounting standards.
• Well-versed with Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Word and Excel.
• Previous experience in DoD preferred.

Personal Skills:

• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Self-starter who is able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team, and be motivated to tackle new problems and take on new responsibilities.
• Strong time management skills, organized with the ability to multi-task.
• Intensive attention to detail.
• Excellent research and analytical skills.
• Capable of obtaining a U.S. Security Clearance
