We are currently seeking a Senior Lead Roadway Engineer with California Registration and California Design Experience to lead specific project tasks and assist Engineering Managers in the delivery of projects. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to effectively carry out designs, work with diverse specialties, and supervise a team of mid- and entry-level engineers and designers. Effective organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
Responsibilities
- Execute complex assignments related to planning, designing, and preparing construction documents for roadway projects.
- Lead the development of projects from inception to completion by defining scope, schedule, and budget in alignment with client strategic goals.
- Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Provide ongoing engineering review and evaluation of designs for compliance with criteria, standards, and specifications on each project.
- Oversee the QA (Quality Assurance)/QC (Quality Check) process.
- Participate in local professional organizations.
- Assist in marketing business opportunities with key clients and develop responses to RFP/RFQs.
- Develop long-term relationships with clients.
- Successfully interface with multi-disciplinary design teams, including civil site design, environmental, surveying, hydraulics and hydrology, geotechnical engineering, traffic engineering, and landscape architecture.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Assist with presentations to governing boards and city councils.
- Work with local and state regulatory agencies for project permitting, funding, etc.
- Travel to project sites and client meetings, with occasional overnight stays, if required.
- Coordinate with utility companies for utility relocation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Over 7 years of design experience performing the above duties with increased responsibilities.
- Strong communication and time-management skills; strong technical writing and communication skills, proven through technical presentations, technical papers, and/or participation in technical committees; experience in marketing and preparation of proposals is desired.
- Knowledge and/or understanding of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation preferred.
- Experience within San Diego, CA working with local agencies and/or Caltrans is a plus.
- Experience in preparation of Caltrans and GREENBOOK specifications; experience in preparation of Engineers Estimate using Caltrans or Local Unit Costs.
- California PE is a must.

The pay range for this California position is $165,000.00- $200,000 per year. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. .Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
