JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Subject Matter Expert that has experience in architecting and deploying IP networks within medium to large datacenter environments. Senior network engineer must be able to develop LAN/WAN designs, setup router/switch configurations, design/configure routing protocols, and set up IP subnet schemes. Senior network engineers must be able to exhibit strong communication, collaboration, as well as time and project management skills. This is a consulting position that focuses on customer-facing (production) infrastructure. Manages the gateway, routers and switches for the AFINC program. Resolves network problems; operate network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators. Monitors data or voice system networks for various messages, alarms, or issues. Activates scripts as alarms occur or issues surface. Confirms accuracy of messages, alarms or issues and/or determines severity of problem, issue or alarm. Initiates resolution as appropriate. Troubleshoots problems using scripts and standard, routine procedures; escalates as appropriate. Researches issues to determine if problem may be resolved using predefined procedures. Executes scheduled maintenance routines in accordance with standard procedures. Identifies issues or problems and resolves as appropriate; escalates when necessary. Performs 1-4 problem determination. Interfaces with users and/or network vendors. Designs, engineers and implements associated projects.
- Develop LAN/WAN network designs to accommodate a data center migration
- Demonstrated knowledge and hands on experience with LAN/WAN setup, TCP/IP protocol, routing/switching configurations and firewall technologies.
- Experience with Cisco routing/switching platforms and IOS.
- Experience with network topologies such as Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, GbE VLAN, and SONET.
- Experience in implementing converged networks to include VoIP, VTC and QoS methods
- Demonstrated knowledge with content switching and load balancers
- Troubleshooting complex network issues such as performance analysis, protocol problems, hardware failures and WAN/LAN connectivity issues.
- VoIP component configuration and deployment experience is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with Juniper platforms is a plus.
- Have a general knowledge of systems and enterprise storage technologies.
- Participate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.
- Troubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.
- Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
- Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
- Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
- Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work independently as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8 to10 years of progressively responsible network engineering hands-on experience with Cisco platforms.Candidate must have CCNP certification (CCIE is a plus). Candidates should have technical experience in all of the following areas: Microsoft Windows Server 2K3/2K8, UNIX/Linux (SUN/Redhat) or database (Oracle/MS SQL 2005+). Individual must have high degree of skills with the MS Office toolsets.
- Applicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, may direct the activities of other team members, diplomatic, multi-task capable, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable and reliable. Prior experience in a government consulting services environment is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in a Business Management or MIS related field.
- Active DoD Secret security clearance.
CLEARANCE LEVEL: Secret
CERTIFICATIONS: Security+ CE and CCNP (CCIE is a plus)
