Location: Initially remote support with possible hybrid support in Suitland, MD in 2025 or later
Years’ Experience: 7+ years
Education: Bachelor’s in computer science, computer engineering, cyber security or other relevant IT field
Security Clearance: IBR is a federal contractor. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
NOTE: United States Citizenship is required as part of the eligibility criteria to be able to obtain this type of security clearance.

Overview
Do you want to help IBR build a portfolio of next-generation data collection systems? The SAS Database Administrator is responsible for integration and implementation of the public cloud infrastructure that will support Census Systems Enterprise Database shared services. Primary focus will be transiting SAS data sets into a Clous RDS databases environment.
Responsibilities
• Ability to review and work with clients to understand their current SAS data sets use cases and develop / execute a transition plan to move data to a cloud relational database.
• Develop PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL code that can be performance tuned to handle enterprise large data sets.
• Operational responsibilities will include supervising performance of database installations, configurations, and migrations as required
• Proactively diagnosing and resolving problems affecting database systems
• Maintaining database configurations in compliance with release management, change management, and office of information security requirements
• Perform daily activities like production support and continuous database monitoring.
• Deploy Database Recovery Techniques
• Understand the full application stack from the OS through custom applications using Amazon cloud-based computing environments with a focus on database administration
• Participate in planning, implementation, and growth of infrastructure on AWS Gov Cloud or Azure
• Implements migration efforts with application teams, including data migration
• Ability to identify and make recommendations for poor database performance
• Identify and improve on possible points of failure in the infrastructure/applications and support troubleshooting incidents.
• Work closely with our architect and engineers to design and implement scalable software services, networks, systems, and storage environment that effectively reflect business needs, security requirements, and service level requirements
• Reviews and provides input to policies and standard operating procedures
Qualifications
• 7+ years professional experience
• Bachelor’s degree or higher education required
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance
• Experience with migration of Relational and SAS data sets to the cloud
• Experience with RDS databases (Oracle, Postgres, MS SQL, Maria) and Aurora databases (MySQL, Postgres)
• Experience with DBA activities such as patching, backup/recovery, maintenance, troubleshooting and database monitoring
• Experience supporting production database workloads in Postgres, Oracle, MS SQL, and/or MySQL
• Must have excellent understanding of Oracle SQL / PL/SQL skills and Performance tuning Deep knowledge of Oracle partitioning, Indexing and Compression Experience developing complex business logic in the Oracle database using PL/SQL.
• Strong hands-on experience with the Oracle RMAN Backup and Restore, Export and Import Data Pump utilities and partitioning Oracle databases
• Experience with Oracle database provisioning and cloning techniques, Oracle Standby Database Server deployments and Oracle Backup Design Planning
• Experience with system integration and automation and operating/managing AWS infrastructure as code or Azure
• Experience integrating databases with other application components (AWS Lambda, Weblogic/Tomcat) or Azure
• Ability to create and utilize AWS CloudFormation templates to automate creation of AWS images
• Knowledge of AWS or Azure user, security and networking configurations
• Experience planning, installing, configuring, patching, and troubleshooting issues on the following platforms:
o Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 or higher (moving to RHEL 9.x soon)
o Microsoft Windows Server 2020 or higher
• Experience with development, designing, building, maintenance, and operations of web application and database environments on AWS, including services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, ELB, RDS, etc.is a bonus
• Experience maintaining and administering with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Maven, GitHub, Artifactory, SonarQube in a cloud environment and developing/writing scripts using Shell, Python, Bash or Perl a bonus
• Experience with automation and infrastructure as code such as CloudFormation/Terraform a bonus
• Experience monitoring production database workloads using CloudWatch, OMS, etc. a bonus
• Organizational Skills: Can plan and prioritize work. Follows tasks to their logical conclusion and makes sure that everything has been done to the right standard. Good attention to detail.
