Position Summary:
Airbus U.S. is looking for an experienced Satellite System Integration and Test (SEIT) Engineer to support the functional verification and validation activity for aerospace projects. We're looking for candidates who can bring exceptional engineering skills and strong test experience in aerospace programs to the team.
Position Responsibilities:
The Senior Systems Engineer's primary responsibility will be to support the Airbus U.S. satellite functional verification and validation activity. In this role, the engineer will map technical requirements to verification and validation strategies that ensure product quality, develop test plans and test procedures, and execute and report the test results. Being at the cutting edge of space technology, we need someone who is eager to learn, grow, and take on new and potentially unfamiliar challenges. There is no shortage of fascinating problems to solve.
Satellite Functional Verification and Validation 70%
- Review the satellite functional specification and develop the test plan to verify and validate the requirements
- Design and build automated testing systems, tooling and/or ground support equipment (GSE) to optimize production and test workflow
- Execute and validate test documentation and equipment, then train others to run validated procedures/equipment
- Troubleshoot issues with hardware and/or equipment, collect and analyze test data, and write/review test reports, flags/non-conformances and other documentation, as required
- Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of engineering and integration activities
Satellite System Architecture Development 30%
- Support system architecture trade studies and requirements development to meet mission needs
- Revise the satellite functional specification for new mission and customer needs
- Generate system architecture data products, including spacecraft CONOPS, algorithm descriptions, and interface documents
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
Education:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas.
- Preferred: Master's in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas.
Experience:
- 9 years of aerospace experience, including 5+ years' experiencein satellite operation and SEIT (System Engineering, Integration and Testing) on spacecraft
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
- Experience with common Systems Engineering and Test tools (DOORS, CCS5, JIRA)
- Familiar with satellite operation, and any subsystem engineering (Guidance, Navigation, Control, Power system, Data Handling, and Software)
- Familiar with product and quality assurance principles and experienced in generation and disposition of test flags and non-conformance documentation
- Experience with object oriented programming (C, C++) and scripting languages (TCL, Python)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation (e.g., electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, CAD models, wire lists)
- Experience with the full Space mission lifecycle, including requirements development, design, manufacturing, test, and mission operations
Travel Required:
Periodic travel (less than 20%) to Airbus U.S. facilities or partner companies Occasional International travel to collaborate with European Airbus counterparts

- Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents.
- Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms.
- Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment.
- Carrying: able to carry documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg.
- Lifting: able to lift documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg.
- Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
- Squatting / Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
- Standing: able to stand for long periods of time.
- Walking: able to walk through office and outside areas including uneven surfaces.
