Senior Scientist- Immunology of Gene Therapies at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Tarrytown, NY
About the Job
We are seeking a detailed oriented and highly motivated Senior Scientist to join the Immunology team within Regeneron Genetic Medicines, supporting research focused on the unique immunological challenges of gene therapy and other genetic medicines. You will spearhead projects investigating innate and adaptive immune responses to genetic medicine platforms, such as viral vectors (e.g. adeno-associated viruses/AAV), virus-like particles (VLPs), RNA therapeutics (RNAi/ASO/AOCs), lipid nanoparticles (LNP), and other next-generation modalities. In conjunction with these studies, you will develop and evaluate novel immunomodulation and immune tolerance technologies designed to manage undesired anti-drug, anti-vector, and anti-transgene immune responses. This work will also use Regenerons core suite of technologies, including VelocImmune-derived fully-human antibodies and VelociGene mouse models.
As a Senior Scientist, a typical day might include:
Independently planning and carrying out ex vivo and in vitro studies evaluating immune responses to genetic medicine platforms
Assisting with (and/or independently driving) in vivo studies evaluating immunomodulation/immune tolerance therapeutics and new genetic medicine modalities
Isolating and culturing leukocytes from tissues (mice) and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (mice, non-human primates, humans)
Conducting immune phenotyping and functional assays, including multicolor flow cytometry (10+ colors), ICS, ELISpot, proliferation assays, and cytokine ELISA/MSD
Interpreting, collating, and presenting results at group and departmental meetings
Keeping up-to-date with relevant scientific literature
This role might be for you if you:
Are passionate about understanding immune-related challenges of gene therapy/genetic medicines
Enjoy working in an innovative and highly collaborative environment
Are adaptable and able to shift priorities and project focuses as needed
Have strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills
In order to be considered for this role, you must have at least a Ph.D. and 0-2 years of relevant experience or a BS/MS in Biology and 8-10+ years of relevant experience in immunology or related field. We need someone with experience with ex-vivo immunological assays, including multicolor flow cytometry (10+ colors). Experience with in-vivo immunology, including mouse handling and procedures such as bleeds and injections including SQ and IV is highly preferred but not required. Experience working with genetic medicines is a plus. The ability to work collaboratively and rapidly adapt to changing priorities is essential.
We hope you will join us in making next-generation genetic medicines a reality!
