Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (Mabbett®), an award-winning and industry-leading environmental, health and safety, and architectural-engineering consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Senior Scientist/Section Lead to support the firm’s growing Natural Resources Practice.
Responsibilities:
- Lead assignments working under the provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and in a wide range of state and local jurisdictions.
- Provide technical leadership, client management, business development, and work with and/or support other practice areas within the firm.
- Provide technical expertise, lead project implementation, and assist the firm’s Environmental Planning and Remediation Group Director to develop strategies for growth of the firm over time.
- Serve the federal, state, local, and commercial sectors with assignments that include assessing the potential impacts of infrastructure and development projects, preparing regulatory agency permit applications, and supporting NEPA and state-equivalent reports.
- Work with a wide variety of clients and project types, from small local developments to large federal projects.
Location:
This is a hybrid position and can be based out of the firm’s Corporate Headquarters located in Stoneham, MA office or in our North Smithfield, RI office.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Wetland Science, Wildlife Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a related course of study.
- 5+ years of experience in wetland delineation, habitat delineation, impact assessment or regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and obtaining jurisdictional determinations.
- Experience with NEPA a plus.
- Experience with sustainability, greenhouse gas estimating, or coastal resiliency planning a plus
- Excellent organizational and personal communication skills; ability to successfully interact with clients, staff, and peers clearly and directly; capable of functioning both independently and on a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office® products: Word and Excel. Familiarity with ArcGIS a plus.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and current 8-hour refresher, as well as Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED Certifications are a plus.
- Ability to perform field and outdoor work in all types of weather and terrain. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, as well as pre-employment physical and drug screen, to include cannabis.
