Overview:
Privately owned Company is seeking an experienced Food Scientist to join their team! In this role, you will be provide scientific and technical knowledge
Responsibilities:
- Lead projects from ideation to commercialization.
- Formulate, modify, and cost-reduce seasonings and food products.
- Solve technical problems in flavor development, food applications, and delivery systems.
- Replicate existing products, seasonings, and flavors.
- Perform basic analysis (salts, moistures, pH, granulations) on products.
- Maintain accurate notes, formulas, correspondence, and data.
- Conduct sensory evaluations.
- Participate in R&D and cross-functional business meetings.
- Apply advanced knowledge of customers' products/processes to projects and teams.
- Write and interpret reports, research records, correspondence, and manuals.
- Communicate and present information to stakeholders.
- Provide technical expertise to internal and external customers.
- Develop intellectual property ideas and contributions.
- Evaluate new ingredient sourcing, costing, qualifications, and specifications.
- Guide Jr. Scientists, technologists, technicians, and operations personnel.
- Stay current with food trends, technology, and processes.
- Support the Director of Culinary as required.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Food Science, Food Engineering, or related Applied Sciences
- 5+ years in developing and formulating seasonings, sauces, batter/breaders, meat systems, or related products
- Culinary experience is a plus
- 3+ years in meat science and commercialization in processing plants
- Proactive thinker with strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Write and review technical procedures and regulations
- Accurately taste and smell flavor profiles and food products
- Mix and compound seasoning blends and flour bases
- Skilled at managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
