The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic design and operational management of the IT environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides comprehensive designs to address the company's strategic direction for physical and virtual server platforms; evaluates emerging technologies; implements systems/architectures based on best practices; ensures system integrity with regards to security and compliance guidelines.
- Develops activity plans, time and resource estimates; and cost benefit analyses for planned activities. Ensures that changes and enhancements are carried out properly, via documented change control processes, and on a timely basis.
- Manages multiple priorities effectively. Maintains clear and efficient communications with management and customers. Provides guidance and mentoring to peers. Prepares presentations on technical subject matter for senior management.
- Works closely with development, network, and production support teams in implementation of infrastructure components supporting emerging technologies and applications.
- Prepares activity and progress reports for projects ensuring issues are properly escalated and resolved to maintain delivery schedule, project cost, and desired results.
- Responds to issue escalation and service interruption as a confident technical leader. Assumes technical leadership role in problem resolution and root cause analysis. Provides actionable after-incident analysis to ensure root-cause issues are logged and remediated.
- Maintains effective external relationships with vendors, consultants, and service providers; leverages these relationships to ensure that the best fit solutions and resources are available to the firm.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experienced, highly technical, and motivated individual, capable of designing and managing both desktop and server environments.
- Clear and efficient communications both with technical peers and management.
- Demonstrated mentoring experience to ensure that designs are executed upon and supported appropriately.
Required skills/competencies:
- Experience in the design & assembly of Client DL/BL series Proliant servers, including Client Virtual Connect architecture. Experience with Cisco UCS platform configuration and management helpful.
- Extensive knowledge of Active Directory, MS Exchange, MS SQL, VMWare
- Functional knowledge of core Networking concepts including TCP/IP , DHCP, DNS/DDNS, load-balancing, VLAN segmentation, network traffic capture and analysis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SAN / NAS concepts and usage including iSCSI, FC, LUNs, WWNs, replication.
- Demonstrated expertise in Windows Server 2008 - 2012 R2 both physical and virtual, including past experience with HA clustering and disaster recovery options.
- 10+ years of managing a Windows Server environment
- 5+ years in technical leadership role with mentoring responsibility
- Experience in design and implementation of Windows Server 2003/2008 Active Directory services, replication topology & trust management.
- Experience in design and implementation of Microsoft Exchange in an enterprise environment
- Experience with VMware and associated technologies (SRM, SVMotion, HA clustering, etc..)
- Advanced skills in Server/Storage design and Operating Systems installation and configuration; able to design highly-available, disaster-tolerant systems failover for critical infrastructure and applications.
- Leads technology and product general assessments, detailed evaluations, and final selections.
- Leads system performance diagnosis and scalability assessment activities.
- Experience with current best practices in IT standards, principles, and security practices
- Knowledge and troubleshooting skills with MS SQL 2005 - 2014, Windows failover clustering, and web technologies.
- Excellent technical documentation skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills
Preferred education/experience:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology or equivalent real world work experience.
- 5+ years in technical leadership role with mentoring responsibility
- Working knowledge of financial industry preferred.
