Raytheon is hiring a *Senior Software Development Engineer* to support our teams in *Tewksbury, Massachusetts Onsite*. You will work within the Air & Missile Defense Software Department in Tewksbury, Massachusetts as part of the Patriot Software Development Team.
Patriot is the world's pre-eminent air defense system, and we are currently developing Patriot training software in support of new system capabilities. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a diverse workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern languages and computing platforms.
*What You Will Do*
* Participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of real-time embedded software, application software, and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems.
* Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
* Participate in internal review of software components and systems.
* Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering.
* Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.
* This position requires onsite presence and extensive interaction with other groups including Systems Design engineering and the Software Development Team.
* Light travel may be required.
* Off hours testing (2nd or 3rd shift) occasionally may also be required.
*Qualifications You Must Have*
* Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of experience.
* Experience in developing software using object-oriented C/C++, Java or other object oriented programming language.
* Experience in a Unix/Linux operating system.
* The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
*Qualifications We Prefer*
* Active Secret security clearance.
* Experience designing and developing real-time embedded software.
* Experience with Network Communication Protocols, Shell Scripting (tcsh, csh, bash), software development tools like Git/Clearcase, software debuggers, and using embedded RTOSs (e.g. VxWorks, Integrity).
* Knowledge of data structures and algorithms, systems software design, operating systems, architectures, software development life cycle and processes.
* Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation, and the desire to learn new technologies and tools.
* Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, DevOps and test automation.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
