About the Job
As a Senior Software Engineer, your primary role will be to build, maintain, and support a SaaS platform that our clients use to run insurance agencies nationwide. You will utilize modern technology and cloud frameworks to develop and, working with the Technical Lead and Architect, design solutions to complex business problems and deliver customer value. The Senior Software Engineer is committed to building upon their extensive development experience and ensures coding standards are followed while developing new product integrations and feature enhancements.

- Acquire a deep understanding of our product and its benefit to our clients.
- Collaborate closely with the team members to design, build, and support platform enhancements.
- Accept direction and guidance in new initiatives and development practices.
- Proactively solve problems and lead conversations on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Lead by example in contributing clean, high-quality, readable code to support the teams’ initiatives (player/coach mentality).
- Review submitted code to ensure quality of end-product and adherence to team standards.
- Ensure the quality of the end product; develop/test it to minimize reported issues.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups and retrospectives.
- Be an active participant in Agile estimation activities.
- Collaborate with our design team to integrate new features.
- Additional duties as assigned to you by your manager.
Skills/Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in Ruby on Rails, RESTful Services and databases (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or similar relational database).
- 5+ years of experience in unit, integration, and automated testing as part of CI/CD.
- Experience in cloud-based architecture (Azure, AWS) is preferred.
- Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
- A natural problem solver and critical thinker who can be relied on to solve complex problems.
- Ability to work efficiently, productively, independently, and as part of a team.
- Provide input into technology and architectural decisions.
- Passionate about writing clean, readable, and easily maintainable code.
- Follow architectural guidelines and coding standards.
- Detail-oriented with an ability to prioritize and maintain balance among multiple tasks.
- Willing to embrace Agile software development methodologies and testing best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in medical or insurance-related industries preferred.
