Job Description:
Love testing distributed systems?
We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Test to help us architect and build out the framework for testing products across the AI Solutions org within HPE. You'll be working on challenging distributed systems testing problems every day and helping us build containerized, data infrastructure platforms for Machine Learning.
Deep learning has enormous promise, but developing deep learning models at scale remains extremely complex, time-consuming, and expensive. In the AI Solutions organization, part of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, we are working to change that: our revolutionary open-source deep learning training platform enables deep learning engineers to train better models in less time, to seamlessly share GPU clusters, and to collaborate more effectively.
Your primary focus will be to work on building the automation infrastructure, tools, and framework for testing our products. In addition, you will help layout sustainable practices within engineering to continually raise the quality bar. For the AI Solutions org within HPE, Open Source Software users and customer feedback is a major driver of our product roadmap and we believe that everyone within the company should experience that first-hand. You will have an outsized impact in making your stakeholders (developers, customer team, and ultimately customers) successful and happy.
The Infrastructure team is a small team right now, but growing. We have recently expanded our scope to expand across the entire AI Solutions org. You would have an enormous impact on the success and direction of our teams.
In this role, you will use Docker, Kubernetes, Go, Python, CI systems, various cloud providers, and more.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Designing, developing, executing, and maintaining an automated testing framework, tools, and infrastructure
• Testing the products for performance, resiliency, security, scalability, and reliability
• Understanding the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, code paths, and overall behavioral characteristics of the platforms
• Owning the performance and longevity benchmarks
• Analyzing and understanding existing test coverage and test cases, identifying opportunities for redesign, replacement, reusability, and improvement in efficiency and performance
• Defining and inspiring changes to our product with our development engineering teams based on feedback from tests and customer issues
• Developing and contributing to internal and external knowledge bases
• Caring about developer happiness and being a champion for our customers
• Going above and beyond to ensure customers are getting the most out of their investment in AI at Scale platforms
Qualifications:
• Some programming experience is required.
• Experience writing automated tests
• Experience working with development teams to understand their testing and work with them to improve it
• Experience designing and running performance tests
• Experience working in a continuous integration / continuous delivery development environment
• Experience working with Kubernetes and Docker
• Must have strong communication skills when talking about technical concepts.
• Professional experience in Databases and/or Distributed Systems
• BS in CS (or equivalent technical degree) and 5+ years of relevant work experience (QA/Automation/Development)
