We ship code daily, A/B test extensively, and have a primary role in creating the product from inception to implementation

Be a member of a small team of talented engineers and designers and play a major role in shaping an exciting app that’s changing how people travel and think about car ownership.Learn more about our Engineering team here:What you will do:Build a world-class machine learning platform that will power a rapidly growing number of products and functions across Turo.Partner with data scientists to train and serve state of the art models to our customers.Identify areas for and deliver platform-level impact.Collaborate with a wide range of internal teams, being attentive to identify and understand their pain points and underlying needs.Produce high-quality maintainable code, test it, collaboratively review it and ship it.Scope and prioritize work with a focus on incremental delivery with a high bar for excellence, but recognizing the business benefits of having something now vs delayed perfection.Work efficiently in a constantly changing and growing environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are desired.Your profile:Bachelor's/Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field5+ years experience in the realm of large-scale data processing, distributed systems, and/or machine learning infrastructure, with an understanding of the complexities associated with production environments.Familiarity with operational tooling for ML services (monitoring, alerting, etc), and architecting distributed microservice systems for model hosting/serving.Experience with public cloud systems (particularly AWS), Kubernetes, and Terraform is a significant plus.Strong hands-on programming skills, particularly in Java (or other JVM languages) and Python, with an ability to develop robust, scalable, and maintainable code.Strong sense of ownership, motivation, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of your work.Solid computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, database concepts, distributed systems, and search.Strong communicator
Writing clear documentation and explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you. Technical leader driving large and complex projects impactful to the business.Enjoy solving problems and helping others meet their goals.Excited to work in a diverse, inclusive environment.For this role, the target base salary range in San Francisco is $149,000 - $186,000 annually
This role is also eligible for equity and the benefits described below

Within the range, individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training
