Senior Software Engineer - Checkr

About the team/role

We're seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Candidates team. This team plays a crucial role in our mission by developing and maintaining the systems that manage the candidate application flow and related processes.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Candidates team, you'll work on high-impact projects that directly contribute to the core functionality of Checkr's background check services. You'll be instrumental in improving our candidate application systems, enhancing data processing capabilities, and ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for candidates going through the background check process.

What you’ll do:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient systems for the candidate application flow
• Optimize application processes to improve speed and user experience for candidates
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and improve candidate-facing functionalities
• Ensure data integrity and compliance with legal and privacy requirements
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decision-making
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices within the team
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in production environments
• Work closely with product managers and other stakeholders to define and implement new features

What you bring:

• 5 years of full-stack software development experience
• Strong proficiency in at least one of Ruby (preferred), Python, or Golang
• Proficiency in React, Angular, or similar frontend technologies
• Experience with large-scale data processing and user flow optimization
• Solid understanding of database systems, both SQL and NoSQL
• Familiarity with cloud technologies (preferably AWS)
• Knowledge of security best practices and data privacy concerns
• Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment

Thebase salaryrange for this role is $175,662 to $206,661 in San Francisco, California.
