Title: Senior Software Engineer
Location: Remote but prefer Raleigh NC/New York City, NY/Santa Monica, CA.
Duration: Long Term Project - Possible Contract to Hire
Compensation: $70-88.33/hr.

Media Engineering is an innovative organization that is focused on providing the best possible video playback experience, art, and metadata to customers around the world, powered by exceptional technology. This strategic work requires streamlining and repurposing technology across different business and distribution channels – including streaming, linear, and theatrical – so that technology can ebb and flow across the needs of the business.
Processing Tools Team: This team is responsible for all tools that provide expert views into the media and metadata processing pipelines as well as engineering development and deployment tools for specialized media workflows that serve operations teams responsible for publishing content to services.
Responsibilities
- Craft web application software using REACT, with strong software development fundamentals and strong design principles (object oriented or functional)
- Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration and innovation
- Build quality products
- Provide on-call rotational support as needed
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience in programming with Backend and Frontend UI development and proficient with one or more general purpose programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript, etc)
- Desire to work in a start-up, fast-growth, or rapid-change environment
- Problem-solving skills to identify the root cause
- Solid communication skills – written, and oral
- Understanding of agile methodologies and git source control
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
- Experience with AWS technologies and cloud infrastructure
- Experience integrating media players into web applications
- Solid understanding of web accessibility fundamentals.
- Strong knowledge to web standards and new technologies.
- Understanding of async programming models (events, callbacks, promises, async/await) and threading/concurrency
- Understanding of source control concepts and systems, CI/CD pipelines and exposure to Git
- Experience with build and deployment technologies such as Jenkins and Docker. Experience with messaging technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, SQS, etc.)
