Become a Senior Solutions Architect - Grid Infrastructure at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. You will stand up new, innovative technologies and capabilities that will provide an interoperable and flexible architecture for SCE to be able to readily adapt to changing business and regulatory requirements. The Enterprise Architect will design and develop Information Technology (IT) architecture solutions (integrated process, applications, data strategies and technologies) for Grid Infrastructure supporting our critical grid control systems and critical applications. You will work closely with various Principal Advisors and Architects to develop architecture design documents that support the enterprise and grid strategies. Align business needs and capabilities to ensure enterprise architecture direction and standards are set, communicated, and maintained. Develop design specifications supporting new technologies, applications, and service offerings. Assess the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies and business portfolios. Facilitate the escalation and resolution of architectural and cybersecurity design issues through a standard governance model. You will lead project teams and application SMEs while working closely with our vendors to enable integration between different components and sub-systems of the future solutions.
+ Architecture and Engineering – Provide services and direction to major programs in the areas of application, information, infrastructure, and integration. Work with program managers to plan technical work streams and identify risks and issues. Take responsibility for critical technology decisions. Define integration standards and govern project alignment to standards.
+ Technical Leadership – Provide technical thought leadership when working with other IT teams and partners. Work with business and IT senior leadership to establish projects to support related Business and IT goals. Represent Digital Grid Services in project architecture, design, and planning. Develop presentations by gathering and analyzing information to present to senior leadership.
+ Technical Advisor – Provide expert guidance and consultation services to clients to provide understanding of industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
+ Strategic Guidance – Provide an understanding to others of the strategy Roadmap which aligns with industry benchmarks. Identify our 3 – 5-year goals, and high-level projects and programs to meet our clients’ needs. Work with vendors and senior leadership directly as well as engineers, IT specialists, architects, and analysts from various disciplines to achieve desired business outcomes.
+ Team Lead – Provide mentoring, guidance, and training to other senior technical team members.
+ Innovation – Fosters technical innovation within the team and leads by example when developing solutions. Representing SCE to the vendor and communicating learned best practices, vendor product roadmap, and communicating SCE business vision to vendors for future product planning.

Responsibilities
+ Defines architecture blueprint for end-to-end systems including integration of applications systems, platforms and technical infrastructure at the portfolio and solutions architecture levels.
+ Carries out the intake scoping of solution concepts and initial cost estimation system architecture definition at the logical level
+ Proactively seeks solutions and deploys recommendations to resolve architectural problems related to any IT domain, including Business, Apps, Data, Security, Server, Networks or Storage
+ Aligns with Business and Systems Analysts to understand the business requirements and create the corresponding blueprint for implementing various technology components of a new system
+ Leads to the solution strategy and architecture including identification of core components necessary to meet functional requirements and desired systems characteristics
+ Ties architectural vision together across portfolios and major business initiatives programs
+ Manages the design and documentation of solutions within standards defined by the enterprise architecture team
+ Coordinates closely with solution engineering development teams and vendors to ensure that a coherent and consistent approach to implementation of the specified solution architecture is achieved
+ Analyzes the technology domains and develops market assessments and roadmaps to inform and evolve strategic execution
+ Ensures all solutions adhere to enterprise IT principles and utility industry standards and regulations
+ A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Ten or more years of designing and developing IT architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Seven (7) or more years of experience in technical development of IT applications, including:
+ Solution and technical architectures for complex business solutions.
+ Working experience in one or more leading Enterprise Integration Platforms.
+ Systems integration in a complex technical and business environment.
+ Experience providing leadership in working with external partners / vendors.
+ Three (3) or more years of experience leading and overseeing system-wide deployments and changes to large scale, mission-critical applications, and platforms.
+ Experience integrating distributed, operational systems using synchronous and asynchronous messaging frameworks.
+ Experience implementing highly resilient and reliable services that can be fault tolerant to various conditions.
+ Experience implementing cloud based or COTS application solutions and integrating with external systems using an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) technology
+ Experience and understanding of Cybersecurity standards and trust zones to implement a defense in depth application security.
+ Experience with design, configuration and integration:
+ Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Web Services.
+ Experience with Database Architecture (e.g., SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, MariaDB, PostgreSQL).
+ Experience with Object Oriented Development (e.g., Java, C++, .Net).
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related technical major/ subject area.
+ Five (5) or more years of experience as Technical Lead of Systems Architecture or Systems Engineering,
+ Experience working in the electric utility industry or experience with one or more of the following areas: Smart Grid, NERC CIP, or Experience with DoD, NIST CIS, or Government security systems design and standards.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and development systems:
+ Experience in Dockers and Kubernetes container platforms (OpenShift, Tanzu)
+ Experience with DevOps, AI/ML tools stack, design and integration.
+ Experience and knowledge regarding best practices on version control, build and deployment processes.
+ Strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
+ Ability to work with diverse teams and communicate complex technical risk and information to vendors, integrators, SMEs, peers and executives across the company.
+ Experience with the application of PMI and ITIL management principles

+ This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
