Job Summary
As a Senior Spacecraft Avionics Engineer, you will execute specialized work and direct product execution per schedule and budget, manage yourself and up to roughly a dozen directly and indirectly in support of that product completion. You will develop avionics hardware from concept through design, layout, fabrication and checkout as well as integration, test, and verification. You will solve the unique challenges of developing high-reliability, flexible spacecraft electronics on demanding timelines.
This position's internal job code is Electrical Design & Analysis Engineer. Our team is currently hiring for a level 4.
Responsibilities
- If it processes or moves data throughout the spacecraft, you own it.
- Design, development, test and operations of digital and analog circuits, including DI, DO, AI, AO, and communications/bus/harness interconnects of RS-422, 485, SPI, LVDS, LVCMOS.
- Design, development, coding, test and operations of flight avionics firmware, including architecting, designing, and implementing FPGA HDL and/or board support packages on custom hardware platforms.
- Design EGSE harnessing for HIL and writing test procedures for integration and test.
- Initial system and requirements design, including make/buy, cost/risk/performance trades.
- Align host vehicle ICD with spacecraft communication protocols and local data storage
- Maximizing the operational capabilities of our unique, high-performance flight avionics hardware with attention to radiation effects and electromagnetic interference and compatibility
- Develop subsystem design review block diagrams and performance metrics for presentation
Minimum Qualifications
- 5-10 years of applicable experience
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Hands-on, direct experience with hardware design, processor bring-up.
- Verilog or VHDL code development and deployment to hardware.
- Experience with C/C development and deployment in embedded environments.
- Strong bias for getting things done with collaboration but minimal regimentation in a new emerging aerospace environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- This position will require an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. - Experience with hardware design tools such as Altium
- Experience with embedded and/or FPGA programming
- Recent experience with real-time operating systems especially variants of embedded linux
- Experience with Agile development methods
- Experience with flight vehicle operations as an avionics subsystem operator including in-flight anomaly resolution and component/subsystem enhancement during the flight life of the vehicle

Summary Pay-Range
- Level 4: $126,650 - $186,250
