Position Summary
Plans and manages projects of moderate to high complexity and confidentiality. Ensures results contribute business value and align with strategy. Provides strategic guidance and support to business areas. Responsible for activities/projects related to one or more of the following communications functions or disciplines: communications consulting for large product/business line or staffing area/strategic initiative, investor relations, crisis communication, external communication, media relations, executive and leader communication, employee and benefits communication, agent communication, customer communication, business/cultural events, brand and culture development, publications and digital content/channel development.
- This position on ERIE's Internal Channels & Media Relations team serves as the day-to-day channel editor and lead writer for ERIEweb, our highly visible companywide intranet. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer, meticulous editor and strong storyteller, who can develop compelling stories and interactive and recurring features to keep Employees informed and highlight ERIE's people, culture and commitment to service.
- This role will identify, source and develop content for ERIEweb News and other internal channels by working collaboratively with leaders, business teams and sources across the organization to ensure internal content delivers a consistent brand style, reflects diverse people and voices, and is relevant and engaging for all Employees.
- Requirements include strong writing and editing skills, sound editorial judgment, strategic thinking, working knowledge of Associated Press and ERIE style and an ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- The hiring manager will also consider candidates for a Specialist II; level of position offered will be based upon the depth and breadth of selected candidate's experience and qualifications.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identifies moderate to highly complex communication needs and opportunities and recommend effective solutions.
- Determines objectives and scope for assigned projects and develops project plans including expenses, tasks, deliverables, resources, assignments, and dependencies. Consults on change management impacts and recommends appropriate action. Works with business and support areas to coordinate tasks as required. Monitors and communicates progress; revises plan as necessary.
- Plans, creates and/or produces communications materials to implement strategies, or support corporate objectives.
- Develops and maintains communication materials, according to business and product development needs. Coordinates activities involved in the preparation of communication materials. Consults with internal/external organizations to develop and implement plans.
- Evaluates effectiveness of communications programs. Performs in-depth research and analysis related to assigned projects and issues. Tracks, measures and reports on the impact of communications plans. Implements changes as appropriate.
- Develops short- and long-term communication objectives.
- Develops and coordinates concepts, materials preparation and channels.

Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, organizational leadership or business, or a related field and five years' experience in marketing, communications, or related field, including at least five years' experience leading projects, required; or
- Associate's degree in marketing, communications, organizational leadership or business and seven years' experience in marketing, communications, or related field, including at least five years' experience leading projects, required; or
- High school diploma or GED and nine years' experience in marketing, communications, or related field, including at least five years' experience leading projects, required.
Additional Experience
- In-depth knowledge of marketing and communications concepts and processes, current research and trends, project management processes, organizational change management concepts required.
Designations and/or Licenses
- General Insurance certification, related designation, preferred.
