Bergmann, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is currently seeking a senior structural engineer to join our Water group. We have needs for structural engineers at various experience levels. Our Water Discipline is growing, and we have exciting projects to engage motivated engineers who enjoy working on a variety of projects varying from steel and concrete to site and earthwork with regular involvement with roadway, structure, utility, and environmental aspects too. Our projects are unique designs and provide a diverse array of interesting work to keep our staff challenged and engaged. Our upcoming project portfolio includes jobs on some of the largest infrastructure projects in the country.

Whether designing a new water control structure, upgrading a hydropower dam, rehabilitating a lock facility or performing work on a levee closure structure, joining the Colliers Engineering & Design Team will accelerate YOUR success!
Responsibilities:- Lead the design effort for structures on or near the water (locks, dams, water control gates, moorings, etc.).
- Direct the development of bid documents (plans, Specs and Cost estimates).
- Develop or provide input on design effort for proposals.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Review/edit/write technical reports.
- Review/edit/write technical specifications.
- Develop design criteria for projects.
- Oversee teams of drafters to prepare design drawings.
- Steel, Concrete, Prestressed Concrete, Timber design.
- Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc.
- Lead field inspections and surveys in support of design and construction.
- Develop design alternatives.
- Assist project managers and leaders as needed in the creation of proposals, client information, and designs.
- Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- Masters’ degree preferred
- Professional engineer licensure
- Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering. We have multiple needs and those with experience levels in excess of this minimum will be considered for other more positions
- Advanced knowledge in the design of concrete and steel structures
- Advanced knowledge of structural engineering principals and how to apply them to nonstandard structures.
- Advanced knowledge of structural engineering modeling software
- A desire to work on a variety of structure types
- A desire to work in a collaborative team environment to learn from and teach others.
- CAD (AutoCAD, MicroStation) skills are a plus
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Work on US Army Corps of Engineers projects or familiarity with Corps’ design guidelines is a plus
