About the Job
Minimum qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.5 years of experience with structural simulation software.Experience with engineering and physics-based first principles.Experience with the mechanical properties of materials (e.g., glass, ceramics, metals, plastics, polymers, or adhesives).Experience with numerical methods, modeling practices, and FEA tools (e.g., Abaqus, Ansys, etc.).Preferred qualifications:Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a similar field.8 years of experience with structural simulation in the consumer electronics industry.Experience with designing, building and testing prototypes to validate design concepts and analysis results.Experience setting up both a material lab and development of validation tools.Experience with advanced material characterization and modeling for developing numerical models.Knowledge of design tools such as NX or similar CAD software

Responsibilities Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify risk, create analysis/simulation/validation plan, brainstorm and propose solutions to problems based on analysis data, iterate through the entire product development cycle to optimize the design to achieve product performance objectives.Own and drive analysis of cutting edge designs, enabling early optimization prior to prototyping and root cause and failure analysis of complex mechanical problems.Generate FEA/analytical models of mechanical parts, modules, and assemblies
Use static, dynamic, structural and thermal-mechanical analysis and create and develop methods to predict field failure models.Build simulation models by using thorough verification, calibration, and validation techniques and best practices leading to high-quality results.Drive the exploration, validation and integration of new technologies, materials, analysis methods and tools to advance and expand team capabilities.
