Overview
Kimley-Horn's Orlando, FL office is seeking a Substation Physical Engineering with 6+ years of experience to join our diverse and fast paced organization. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
+ Perform conceptual and detailed HV and MV Substation Physical/Electrical design for utilities/substations (including basic layout, electrical arrangement, one line, three-line drawings, plan-section, grounding, AC and DC system drawings)
+ Perform engineering studies and calculations including:
+ Conduit fill
+ Bus
+ Grounding
+ Lightning Protection
+ Illumination
+ Facility Ratings (FAC)
+ Assume the role of technical lead on projects with limited guidance
+ Create and review bill of materials for substation physical projects
+ Assist with developing and implementing policies, processes, procedures, standards, and technical guidance, as required, to continually improve the engineering capability within the practice
+ Plan and lead client meetings (or meeting sections) relating to physical design, as required
+ Support the preparation of project proposals and tender presentations
+ Perform Quality Control reviews on substation physical packages
+ Provide support for continued professional development of less experienced engineers in team, including technical guidance, and recommending training needs to the group
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited engineering program
+ Holds an active PE license in the United States
+ Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects
+ Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
+ 6+ years of direct substation physical design experience.
+ Experience with grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies
+ Working knowledge of protection and control design
+ Experience with bus calculations
+ Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS
