Job Title: Senior Superintendent - Higher Education Projects ($100M+)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to oversee large-scale higher education construction projects valued at $100 million and above. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and expertise in managing complex construction projects within the education sector, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety regulations. This role requires exceptional leadership skills to effectively coordinate with various stakeholders, subcontractors, and project teams to deliver successful outcomes.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all construction activities for higher education projects, ensuring alignment with project goals, specifications, and timelines.
2. Oversee site operations, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and quality control to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
3. Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to interpret design plans, resolve technical issues, and implement effective construction strategies.
4. Maintain a strong focus on safety protocols and regulatory compliance, implementing measures to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment for all personnel on-site.
5. Provide leadership and guidance to on-site personnel, including foremen, tradespeople, and subcontractors, to optimize productivity, morale, and performance.
6. Conduct regular site inspections and quality assessments to monitor progress, identify deviations from plans, and implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain project standards.
7. Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, university representatives, and regulatory authorities, to provide updates on project status, address concerns, and solicit feedback.
8. Manage project documentation, including daily reports, progress photographs, change orders, and as-built drawings, to maintain accurate records and facilitate project closeout processes.
9. Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency enhancements throughout the project lifecycle, implementing best practices and lessons learned from previous experiences.
10. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting higher education construction projects, incorporating relevant advancements into project strategies and methodologies.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on overseeing large-scale projects within the higher education sector.
3. Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects concurrently, with budgets exceeding $100 million.
4. Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials, particularly as they pertain to educational facilities.
5. Excellent leadership abilities, with the capacity to inspire and motivate multidisciplinary teams to achieve common objectives.
6. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
7. Proficiency in construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
8. Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in all aspects of construction operations.
9. Ability to travel to project sites as needed and work flexible hours to accommodate project requirements.
10. Relevant certifications, such as OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification, LEED accreditation, or PMP certification, are desirable but not required.
