About the Job
We are seeking a skilled Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join our client’s Procurement Quality Support Engineering team. This role is essential for ensuring high-quality electrical and electronic assemblies within a defense environment.
- Oversee supplier quality interactions for electrical/electronic assembly programs.
- Investigate and resolve supplier quality issues through defect investigations and trend analysis.
- Lead continuous improvement projects and containment efforts for supplier non-conformances, ensuring traceability and effective delegation.
- Communicate regularly with internal and external customers, providing status updates and insights.
- Enforce purchase order requirements and manage supplier non-conformance and performance improvement, including root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Mentor junior SQEs to foster their professional development.
- Evaluate nonconforming products and supplier corrective actions, championing problem-solving initiatives to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct First Article Inspections and Test plans in compliance with AS9102 requirements, collaborating with suppliers to meet standards.
- Promote a "Zero Defect" mentality and implement A3 problem-solving methodologies within the supply base.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering-related field, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience (or 10 years of equivalent experience in lieu of education).
- Hands-on experience with electronics manufacturing processes.
- Proficient in interpreting mechanical drawings and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T).
- Solid knowledge of Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective/Preventative Actions.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9102B Quality Systems or similar standards.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and relevant industry software.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in a Defense Prime Contract environment.
- Background in product line validation, test plans, and product qualification.
- Specific experience with electrical assemblies in the defense sector.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and tools (Green/Black Belt) and Toyota Production System practices.
