Summary

Play a key role in managing and optimizing the operations of data centers for a federal agency. Bring your expertise in managing both virtualized environments and physical server setups, with a focus on VMware, Hyper-V, and SAN technologies such as Dell Compellent and EqualLogic. Work alongside a dedicated team of technical and program support consultants to support multiple data centers for several thousand agency staff.

Responsibilities
- Data Center Management:
- Ensure stable operation and efficient performance of data centers.
- Support hardware and software needs, including system upgrades, routine maintenance, and firmware updates.
- Manage virtual and physical server environments, SAN arrays, and network equipment across production, development, and test environments.
- Manage DNS.
- Configure, manage and implement networking tools.
- Perform firmware upgrades, patch management and vulnerability mitigation.
- System administration
- Create and implement scripts in an enterprise environment for Hyper-V administration, failover cluster administration, Windows server administration, and Unix/Linux/Ubuntu administration.
- Manage VMs to include creating, configuring, and maintaining virtual machines in
a failover cluster environment; automating creation and management of virtual machines; planning, configuring, and maintaining hyper-converge infrastructure according to manufacture and industry best practices.
- Use automation for routine system administration tasks.
- Plan, configure, and maintain Dell SAN arrays in accordance to vendor best practices.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows server, hardware, operating systems and features in accordance to vendor best practices.
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux and Oracle hardware, operating systems, and features in accordance with vendor best practices.
- Configure and maintain backup technologies to include backup software, reporting, LTO tape libraries, backup to disks, and backup to cloud integration.
- Perform routine backups of failover SQL cluster.
- Perform routing storage management for failover SQL cluster.
- Cloud Infrastructure Support:
- Administer and expand the Azure IaaS environment supporting key services like Active Directory and Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop.
- Develop and implement solutions to enhance cloud services and infrastructure.
- Project Management and Innovation:
- Collaborate with government staff to integrate and coordinate activities across Data Centers.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve system stability and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage project requirements, documentation, system design, and architecture creation.
- Technical Support and Documentation:
- Provide comprehensive IT engineering and administrative support.
- Offer specialized technical support, troubleshooting system issues for users and developers.
- Develop technical and operational documentation, including security plans and configuration guides.
- Security and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with IT security requirements across various platforms and applications.
- Support information assurance, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations.
Qualifications - Required
- AD
- 7+ years of experience
- Minimum of 7 years of related technical experience in supporting Information Technology environment at the server/data center level.
Qualifications - Highly Desired
- Bachelor's in computer science, Engineering, Technology or a related field
- Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, strong communication skills, and experience in a leadership role.
Compensation
- $103,000 - $109,000/yr, based on capability and experience
