Hybrid Opportunity (Remote option available)
Hanover Research is actively seeking a self-motivated and well-rounded individual for a full-time permanent Senior Systems Administrator position. The individual will be responsible for managing and maintaining Microsoft Azure cloud-based virtual servers, databases, and applications. This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be able to think on their feet, respond well to constant change, and perform under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude at all times.
- Setup, configuration, and continued maintenance of Azure virtual machines, Azure PaaS resources, and SaaS applications
- Configuring and verifying systems backups, performing occasional testing by restoration
- Development of contingency plans to ensure continuous availability and accessibility of server resources in the event of emergencies
- Conducting functional and connectivity testing to ensure continued operability
- Evaluate new technology for increased productivity and workflow refinement
- Maintain security best practices using technologies including SEIM, EDR/XDR, patching/incident response, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning
- Administer various SaaS platforms such as Microsoft Office 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Workday, and FreshService
- Several years of experience managing virtualization platforms, servers, databases, and applications, including Microsoft Azure, Linux, Windows Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
- Strong knowledge of DNS record management using Bind, Active Directory DNS, and Azure to support web sites and email deliverability
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Intune Endpoint device administration, Office 365(Exchange/SharePoint), Entra ID, Conditional Access, SAML and OAUTH Single Sign On, App registration and permissions management
- Working knowledge of Python, PowerShell, PHP, Bash scripting
- Exposure to network administration and troubleshooting, including configuring and maintaining network switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls, etc.
- Experience with Interfacing with REST/SOAP API endpoints to integrate systems to share data
- Strong understanding of information security principles and practices including ISO 27001 and SOC2
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize effectively. Must be a highly-motivated, self-starter able to adapt to new challenges and learn quickly
Education / Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred (In - IT, IS, CS or related technical discipline), but not required
- CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, MCSE/MCITP, or CCNA preferred, but not required
Location
Arlington, Virginia
Hybrid (in office as needed) is strongly preferred. Will consider strong candidates that require to be 100% remote as well

Compensation
Hanover Research strives to create compensation and benefits programs that are competitive, equitable and fair. The compensation range for this role at the company is $115,000 - $140,000. Please note that the base salary offered is contingent on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Our base pay range is determined by the role and the market.
