Title: Sr. Systems Administrator – Office 365, Cloud (AWS)
Location: Hybrid from Chicago
Salary: $105-110K

The Senior Systems Administrator manages and supports the core technology infrastructure of the organization (on-premise and cloud), including a variety of critical business systems. Partnering with the Information Technology Manager, the organization’s managed service provider, and respective stakeholders, this person will ensure the core technology infrastructure meets the needs of the organization and is aligned with the strategic technology goals and priorities. This position is responsible for ensuring these core technology services are reliable and well supported. This position requires 24-hour on-call support based on a rotating schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage all aspects of the organization’s on-premise and cloud network infrastructure (30%)
- Switches, firewalls, and wireless networks
- Domain Name Services (DNS)
- Email reputation controls (DMARC, SPF, DKIM)
- Virtual Private Network (VPN)
- Servers (physical and virtual)
- Directory Services (Active Directory)
- Software updates, patch management and license compliance
- Network monitoring and up-time
- Power management (UPS) end environmental controls for on-premise infrastructure
- Manage, support & perform system administration on key critical business systems (30%)
- Administration of the Office 365 and Azure AD infrastructure
- Administration of AWS Services
- Management of the Email defense system
- Manage, coordinate and execute aspects of the organization’s IT business continuity plans (10%)
- Annual disaster recovery planning and testing
- Ensuring all critical data and systems are successfully backed up on a regular basis
- Quarterly testing of data restoration from backups
- Management of the on-premise and cloud backup system(s)
- Monitoring and securing the physical facilities housing the organization’s on-premise technology infrastructure (the data center)
- Ensure that the environmental conditions in the data center are maintained according to standards
- Manage and support key elements of the organization’s IT security controls (10%)
- Management of the endpoint protection system
- Management of the organization’s patch management system
- Management of the organization's email defense system
- Management of the multi-factor-authentication (MFA) system
- Deployment of security patches and software updates in accordance with the organization’s vulnerability management policy
- Ensuring all security protection services (anti-virus signature files, etc.) are kept up-to-date
- Ensure secure hardening of network, servers and workstations
- Implement and enforce the organization’s security policies and standards
- Security scanning for compliance. IE: PCI Compliance, PII data
- Support and maintenance of the keycard security system.
- Manage all aspects of the organization’s telecommunications infrastructure (10%)
- Internet services
- Telephone and voicemail services
- Telecommunications equipment (phone system, handsets)
- Mobile & Tablet devices (iPhones, iPads)
- Working with the appropriate vendors, perform aspects of the IT procurement and asset management process (5%)
- Purchasing IT hardware and software with the approval of the IT Manager
- Maintaining inventory of key IT components to minimize turnaround time for replacements/additions.
- Processing, documenting, and approving vendor invoices within approval limits.
- Quality control and testing of hardware and software
- Manage, track, and audit the organization’s software licenses.
- Recommending and managing the standard hardware and software for the network, desktop, laptop, and handheld platforms.
- Perform day-to-day Help Desk support, as needed (5%)
- Answering the Help Desk phone and monitoring the Help Desk mailbox
- Processing and resolving Help Desk support requests.
- Coordinate end user training for staff including new hire orientation.
- Performing administrative functions on a variety of platforms
- Working within established priorities, research, evaluate and recommend vendors and products to ensure that they meet the requirements of the organization.
- Working with the IT Manager, review and recommend technology use policies for the organization.
- Keep abreast of trends in technology and make recommendations as appropriate.
