Overview:
The Senior Tax Accountant (Trust and Estates) plays a critical role in providing tax and accounting services for trusts and estates. This position is essential for ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, accurately preparing tax returns, and providing strategic tax planning advice. The Senior Tax Accountant will work closely with clients, attorneys, and financial advisors to provide comprehensive trust and estate tax services, helping to ensure the financial well-being of clients and their beneficiaries.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the preparation and review of complex trust and estate tax returns
Provide tax planning and consulting services for trust and estate clients
Conduct comprehensive tax research and analysis on trust and estate tax issues
Review fiduciary accounting and financial statements for trusts and estates
Collaborate with clients, attorneys, and financial advisors to address tax and accounting matters
Ensure compliance with federal and state tax laws and regulations
Assist with trust and estate administration and distribution matters
Support the development of tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities for trusts and estates
Provide guidance on tax implications of estate planning and wealth transfer strategies
Participate in client meetings and effectively communicate tax-related insights
Assist with IRS and state tax authority audits and inquiries related to trusts and estates
Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations affecting trusts and estates
Contribute to the development and enhancement of tax processes and procedures
Keep accurate and detailed workpaper documentation for tax filings and planning
Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive and productive work environment
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
5+ years of experience in trust and estate tax accounting
Proficient knowledge of tax laws and regulations related to trusts and estates
Experience with complex trust and estate tax returns and planning
Strong understanding of fiduciary accounting and financial reporting
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients and colleagues
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines
Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of estate planning and wealth transfer principles
Familiarity with IRS and state tax authority audit processes
