Tax Senior Accountant
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Tax Senior Accountant, you will plan and supervise a wide variety of engagements and work to develop quality relationships with the firm’s clients. You will have the opportunity to progress and assume responsibility for effectively supervising engagements from initial planning through to the delivery to the client. You will also build your skills in supervising, coaching, training and mentoring Staff Accountants in a collaborative working environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, supervise and complete routine tax and accounting engagements
- Gain experience in building and managing client relationships
- Develop analytical and problem-solving skills to assist clients in resolving issues
- Prepare corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary and other tax returns with minimum supervision
- Review tax returns, workpapers and other documents prepared by others
- Compile and review financial statements for partner review
- As you gain experience, you will progress to assume responsibility for efficiently supervising all forms of financial statement engagements
- Manage your time and projects and use effective prioritization and communication to manage staff workloads and complete multiple assignments in a timely manner
- Effectively supervise, coach, train and mentor Staff Accountants
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
As a Tax Senior Accountant, having the following knowledge, skills and abilities will give you the best chance to succeed in this position:
- Technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff accounts on financial statement audit, review and compilation engagements, as well as in the preparation of complex income tax returns.
- Experience in preparing a wide variety of tax returns, and experience reviewing the work of others
- Familiarity with pertinent Internal Revenue Code sections and regulations, research, techniques, and the various research sources available.
- Thorough understanding of generally accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniques
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, OCBOA unique or specialized accounting principles, and financial statement presentation and disclosure
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of firm standard software, such as Lacerte, ProSystems FX, Excel,
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects, assignments and deadlines, and to delegate effectively
- Experience in supervising, mentoring, coaching and training others
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To be considered as a Tax Senior Accountant candidate you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a major or concentration in accounting, tax, or related field
- Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience with a public accounting firm
- Hold a current and valid CPA license, or have completed the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exams and be actively working toward obtaining the license
- Applicant will be required to submit to a criminal background check upon receipt of a conditional offer
