ROLE OVERVIEW
The newly created Sr. Tax Accountant role will report to the Tax Director and is responsible for supporting the Tax Director in coordinating the company’s tax functions, including review of federal and state & local tax returns, review of tax trial balance, and assist with various other tax-related items. This role will support internal accounting and F/S reporting teams as well as external service providers to execute upon their responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist in tax compliance and accounting technology transformation to accelerate tax filing and tax accounting close timelines
· Prepare components of quarterly estimated taxes, extensions, and annual income tax returns
· Assist in state & local tax return preparation such as excise, business personal property, gross receipts, etc.
· Review tax trial balance and multi-state apportionment
· Respond to requests from internal/external business partners on tax-related matters and provide guidance on taxability of products and/or services
· Support tax audits and respond to government notices
· Support other areas as needed, such as accounting and reporting team
· Research tax regulations using research tool and document it
· Identifying and carrying out other projects as assigned
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
· BA/BS in Accounting is required
· CPA designation is desired
· 2+ years progressive experience in tax accounting
· Experience working for a public company is preferred
· Strong computer skills, including research tool CCH, BNA, and Tax software
· Working knowledge of US GAAP and accounting policies
· Strong knowledge and experience preparing and reviewing federal and state tax provisions and tax returns is preferred
· Capable of managing multiple responsibilities while maintaining high level of detail accompanied with working effectively in a high-paced environment
· Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States
