About the Job
The Senior Teacher is responsible for assisting the Principal in the daily operation and management of the educational and behavioral components of the school; implements and monitors procedures developed to assure compliance with all state specific certification/school approval requirements and contractual obligations of the school. In the absence of the Principal, the Senior Teacher is in charge of the school.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
• Maintains a safe learning environment for students within the scope of the Arrow Center for Education administrative policies and procedures.
• Provides direct instruction to students either in a pull-out class or as a classroom role model.
• Hires, or participates in the hiring process, of instructional and resource staff.
• Provides and documents direct individual and group supervision to teachers and practicum students according to policy and/or practicum requirements.
• Evaluates performance of instructional staff, resource staff and practicum students.
• Conducts staff development trainings, according to identified needs.
• Assists in the assessment, design and implementation of the professional development program.
• Coordinates classroom and resource staffing on a daily basis.
• Assists in the development and maintenance of a positive school culture.
• Maintains proper rules, safety and security of students, providing crisis intervention when necessary.
• Functions as a lead treatment team member of all teams and attends all team and crisis meetings; communicates all appropriate information orally and in writing.
• Manages library, media center, instructional materials and technology resources of the school.
• Together with the Principal and Treatment Coordinator, oversees the maintenance of policies and procedures which assure COMAR compliance.
• Together with the Principal and Treatment Coordinator, continually assesses the overall program to assure optimum functioning as well as COMAR compliance.
• Informs the Principal of all relevant situations.
• Attends trainings and meetings as required.
• Shares/transmits the mission and vision of Arrow Child & Family Ministries to staff and to students and families served.
• Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, Arrow policy, and COA standards.
• May be required to drive ACFM vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, and complete Arrow’s vehicle training.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree and a valid state specific Standard Professional Teaching Certificate. At least three (3)
years of teaching experience in special education with emotionally disturbed students and one (1) year of
progressive supervisory experience.
