Project Solutions is seeking an experienced individual to serve as a Senior Technical Proposal Writer to join our team. This is an onsite position in our office in Rapid City with flexibility in the day to day schedule. The Senior Technical Proposal Writer plays a pivotal role in the proposal process, from concept development to final submission, ensuring that proposals are well-structured, compelling, and tailored to meet client needs. They collaborate closely with subject matter experts to gather and synthesize information, develop winning strategies, and produce high-quality written content.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support business development efforts by conducting market research, analyzing trends, and identifying new opportunities.
- Determine proposal concepts by studying requests for proposal (RFPs, RFIs, etc.), attending strategy meetings, and speaking with subject matter experts.
- Gather proposal information by identifying sources of information and interviewing subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand their areas of expertise and develop publications concepts that clearly communicate their knowledge.
- Develop proposal content by assembling information and creating solutions/outcomes/benefits outlines and writing compelling text with win themes and differentiators.
- Improve proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplates, speaking up to volunteer ideas for improvements, and implementing changes.
- Own the proposal process, meeting proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval, coordinating requirements with contributors, and contributing proposal status information during review meetings.
- Write, revise, and edit drafts of proposal responses (including executive summaries and technical, management, past performance, resume, and pricing sections), responses to Requests For Information (RFIs), and marketing material.
- Edit documents and technical literature prepared by other staff members, for content, coverage, clarity, and voice consistency, recommending revisions and editorial standards as appropriate.
- Contribute to proposal graphics development and support marketing efforts by developing and writing market collateral materials and assisting in the design of the company website.
- Update and design charts, tables, and graphic to represent data as it relates to proposal requirements and strategies.
- Assist with core business development activities, such as generating pitch decks and communicating with clients and competitors to better understand business trends.
- Seek out new market insights and business opportunities through research and analysis.
- Provide business development research, analysis, and reporting to supervisors.
- Detail research findings for management review.
- Review the monthly performance of the business and recommend improvements to all business processes and systems.
- Work with colleagues from various departments.
- Manage and update all documentation related to proposals.
- Maintain statistics and track potential opportunities as well as competitors.
- Participate in quality control efforts and extend support wherever needed.
Education, Knowledge and Skills:
- BA/BS in Technical Writing, Marketing, Communications or related fields in progress or completed preferred.
- A minimum of two years of experience in proposal writing preferred.
- Understanding of government procurement terms preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed.
- Strong technical skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- This position is in-office with days and hours of work Monday through Friday.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
