About the Job
We are seeking a full-time Senior User Interface Designer in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and providing input on the creation and execution of complex design concepts in our Auto segment that maintain a consistent visual appearance for small to medium projects or sub-projects.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
- Manages project planning including providing substantial contributions for determining the feasibility of project goals/objectives
- Maintains an exceptional eye for detail and deep appreciation for finding simple design representation for complex data
- Partners with the UX designers in the creation of demos and presentations to highlight the vision for key features of exciting new technology and/or product
- Creates and presents new ideas and imaging technologies to the graphics design and/or user experience teams and other Garmin market segments
- Maintains corporate branding and consistent look for all owned products
- Serves as an expert resource in the completion of complex design tasks and projects
- Proactively leads innovative imaging projects within and outside of the department and explores new technologies making recommendations to management
- Demonstrates understanding of art production issues as they relate to engineering and production
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design/Visual Communication or related field AND a minimum of 6 years relevant work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Submit online portfolio demonstrating exceptional skills in graphics manipulations & visual effect techniques (illustrating, color rendering, texturing, 2D & 3D concepts)
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry and Garmin requirements related to images
- Demonstrated understanding of fundamental design disciplines (composition, information architecture, color theory, typography and animation)
- Previous leadership or mentorship experience
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- 3D Modeling
- Previous experience in Auto
