Title and Summary Senior Vice President, Software Engineering, Mastercard Checkout Services Overview Mastercard Checkout Services (MACS) is a global standard issued by the EMVCo designed to power digital checkout experience that deliver the security, convenience, and control currently offered to consumers in the physical world. Mastercard’s implementation of MACS, built off of EMVCo’s secure remote checkout specifications, enhances guest checkout to offer greater security, convenience and choice for consumers, together with our partners. As Mastercard continues to scale MACS, our goal is to enable great digital payment experiences whenever and wherever consumers shop. The Senior Vice President, Software Development Engineer provides senior leadership to Mastercard global development teams focusing on development of MACS. This role will oversee the development, management, and continuous improvement of critical, high-impact applications that are central to our strategic goals. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in digital commerce platform engineering, strong leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of scalable application development. Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies is a significant plus. Role • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of the digital commerce platform, ensuring it meets performance, scalability, and reliability standards. • Ensure the application’s architecture is robust, scalable, and aligns with best practices and industry standards. • Build and run highly scalable platform components that support our digital commerce platform and the product and customers that leverage the technology. • Define the structures and operating mechanisms to run your organization while shifting to a data driven and continuous learning culture across your organization • Inspect the delivery plans and execution metrics using your own tech depth and delivery experience to assess risks and continuously raising the bar • Define and build your own scorecard to continuously monitor engineering metrics • Provide visionary leadership to foster innovation and drive the evolution of the digital commerce platform • Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of engineers, architects, and technical managers. • Build and cultivate strong internal customer relationships to establish engagement models for your team, ensure delivery of quality products in alignment with expectations. Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the application and its underlying infrastructure. • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, security, and privacy standards. • Handle escalations • Communicate with savviness in dealing with big issuers and someone who understands the cultural variances across different countries. Act as the primary liaison with executive leadership to communicate progress, challenges, and strategic direction. All About You • Minimum of 15 years of experience in digital commerce platform engineering or software development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. • Proven track record of successfully managing and scaling high-profile, mission-critical applications at leading technology or financial companies. • Lead large technical global organizations of 250+ in premium technology organization • Has the executive presence to work with senior leaders within Mastercard and with our customers, the largest global banks and fintechs in the world • Establish and maintain strong governance practices to ensure accountability, transparency, and alignment with organizational policies. • Deep experience in working in services and cloud based technical stack • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities and transformation experience highly desirable • Extensive experience in designing and developing consumer facing eCommerce and Mobile Commerce products is a must have • Experience managing multiple functional areas within technology such as technical architecture, software development, system testing, and production support. • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team. • Understands architecture, trade-offs and how to build platforms • Deep experience in everything automation – QA, deployment, everything • Experience with software development methodologies, particularly with Agile methodologies.
