Title: Senior Virtualization Engineer
Location : On-site in Radford, VA
Security Clearance: DOD Secret (Fully Adjudicated) as a minimum
Citizenship: US
Required Certifications:
- Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IA Tech Level II certification.
- Must have (or obtain within 6 months of hire) VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Advanced Professional (VCAP), or Design Expert (VCDX) certification in any of the following tracks:
o Cloud Management and Automation
o Network Virtualization
o Application Modernization
Position Requirements
Position Duties:
- Work with Government engineers to develop and maintain the architecture.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment and sustainment of the VMware suite of products.
- As applications are hosted on the solution, utilize IaC for the provisioning of the customer enclaves.
- Provide daily administration of the VMware products to include patching and upgrading of all VMware components.
- Monitor utilization of all virtualization resources and notify the lead when additional resources will be required.
- Harden the VMware products per commercial best practices and the required government cybersecurity controls.
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any hosting platform issues.
- Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation (system diagrams, network topology, software configurations, device configurations, standard operating procedures).
- Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
- Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies.
- Senior level experience with the VMware suite of products (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Foundations, ARIA Automation, Tanzu).
- Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack network, storage, server, and applications.
- Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process.
