Overview: The Senior Wealth Business Development Advisor (Private Client) role is an ideal opportunity for a highly motivated professional to join a growing and respected Private Client practice at a well-established and federally registered investment advisor managing individually managed accounts and mutual funds.
As a member of the Private Client team, the Senior Wealth Advisor will be responsible as lead advisor for a designated group of clients in coordination with other members of the Private Client team and will be responsible for identifying and cultivating relationships with prospective clients on behalf of the firm. Building and managing long-term relationships with referral sources including accountants, estate planners, and professional trustees will be critical to success in this role. A strong team player and communicator, the Senior Private Client Advisor will partner actively across Osterweis’ platform to deliver an outstanding prospective client experience and represent the firm in a professional manner and maintain a high level of product and portfolio knowledge. This individual will have a broad understanding of wealth management practices and investment strategies and will be comfortable articulating Osterweis Capital Management’s Private Client services and investment offerings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsibilities as advisor include:
- Maintaining regular communication with the client.
- Effectively articulating the firm’s investment strategies, philosophy, and macroeconomic views
- Discussing the firm’s wealth management services and best practices.
- Delivering wealth management services to the client including:
- Discussing clients' financial goals and educating them on various investment types, explaining how each can benefit or hinder their objectives.
- Assessing the appropriate risk appetite of each client, considering their long- and short-term goals, family status, age, employment and expenses to provide the most accurate advice.
- Identifying client needs and concerns and articulating investment recommendations that can best help clients meet their goals.
- Contribute to the business development strategy of the Private Client Group including:
- Building and maintaining relationships with strategic referral sources
- Analyzing portfolios of prospective clients.
- Preparing investment management recommendations and proposals
- Being motivated with a passion for creating new business and converting opportunities
- Provide financial planning advice and deliverables for use with clients and prospective clients including financial planning analysis and preparation of financial plans.
- Support other client facing members of the Private Client Group in the servicing of client relationships.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and useful records of client interactions and requests and proactively communicate actions items and compliance matters to appropriate internal departments of the firm.
- Develop strong working partnerships with key internal departments of the firm.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree
- Advanced degree (i.e., MBA, JD, etc.) or professional designation (i.e., CFA, CFP) preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- 6+ years of advisor level work experience in wealth management/investment management.
- Proven track record of business development success.
- Consultative sales approach with depth in investment strategies and macroeconomic themes.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES
- Deep understanding of the Registered Investment Advisor’s Fiduciary Duty, along with high ethical standards to ensure the financial security of clients.
- Strong understanding of capital markets, asset allocation, financial and investment planning.
- Comfortable discussing financial markets, portfolio construction and risk.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills both externally with clients and internally with colleagues
- Proven integrity and the ability to build trust with prospects and long-term relationships with centers of influence by demonstrating professionalism, industry knowledge and in-depth product knowledge.
- Ability to make sound decisions and recommendations based on rich understanding of investment management best practices and policies/procedures.
- Commitment to excellence as reflected in high attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills with consistent follow-through.

- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
