Job Details
As the Senior Wireless Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced algorithms that enable seamless wireless connectivity between terrestrial Bluetooth devices and satellites. You will work on designing and optimizing the wireless communication protocols essential for maintaining reliable connections across varying conditions in space and on Earth. Your expertise will be crucial in creating robust wireless systems that form the foundation of our satellite network.
You will be involved in all aspects of wireless communication system design, including modeling, protocol design, performance analysis, and system implementation. This role also involves collaborating closely with a cross-functional team of hardware and software engineers to integrate wireless systems into Hubble’s satellite network.
Key Responsibilities:
> Algorithm Development & Implementation: Develop and optimize wireless protocols and signal processing algorithms to support reliable communication between Bluetooth endpoint devices and Hubble Satellites. Ensure these algorithms address key challenges, such as Doppler shift, localization, spoke matching, and interference management in space environments.
> System Design & Modeling: Lead the design and modeling of wireless communication systems, including evaluating link budgets, channel models, and modulation schemes. Create detailed simulations to predict performance and validate communication protocols under various environmental conditions, including those prevalent in space.
>Testing and Validation: Help validate FPGA implementation in laboratory and real-world operational environments. Develop and execute test plans to ensure systems meet performance and reliability criteria before deployment.
> Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with hardware, software, and mechanical engineers to integrate wireless systems into the broader Hubble Satellite ecosystem. Ensure that wireless protocols align with system requirements across design, manufacturing, and deployment phases.
>Performance Analysis & Optimization: Conduct performance analysis of wireless systems, identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Propose and implement optimizations to enhance system reliability, scalability, and data throughput.
> Scaling & System Integration: Design scalable wireless solutions that can support a growing constellation of satellites and a high number of terrestrial Bluetooth devices. Develop innovative approaches to maximize system capacity and coverage.
Basic Requirements:
● Bachelor's Degree (Masters preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
● Strong understanding of communication theory & signal processing-related algorithm design (such as channel estimation, equalization, beamforming, timing recovery, coding, error correction, etc.)
● Knowledge in existing wireless communication protocols, such as 5G/LTE/WCDMA/GSM, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, 802.11ad/ay or Bluetooth/BLE.
● Expertise in developing signal processing and wireless communications systems (e.g., FSK/OFDM/MIMO, etc.) and hands-on experience with lab testing and characterization.
● Experience with Matlab or Python and/or C/C++ for algorithm development, modeling, and simulation.
● Experience and knowledge on High-Level Synthesis (HLS), silicon prototyping, FPGA development and emulation systems.
● Experience on bring-up of real systems in silicon/FPGA/SoC and use of lab test equipment such as oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, etc.
● Ability to work independently and learn new technologies, network protocols, and tools rapidly.
● Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
Strongly Desired:
● +5 years of directly relevant experience
● Experience with multi-radio coexistence management.
● Experience in modem architecture, microprocessor architecture, hardware, and software control.
● Experience in low-power algorithm design for power-critical applications.
