Job Summary:
The Server and Server Rack Packing Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently packing server units and server racks for shipping. This role involves ensuring that all components are properly secured, labeled, and prepared for transport, while adhering to company quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Packing Preparation: Review packing instructions and specifications to ensure that each server and server rack is packed according to the company's guidelines and customer requirements.
Component Handling: Safely handle and arrange servers, racks, and any accompanying hardware (e.g., power cables, accessories) for packaging.
Packaging Assembly: Assemble packaging materials such as boxes, foam inserts, protective wraps, and crates to ensure that each item is properly protected during transport.
Securing Equipment: Secure servers and server racks in their packaging to prevent movement or damage during shipping. Use straps, padding, and other materials to immobilize components.
Labeling and Documentation: Accurately label packed items with product information, destination addresses, and any relevant shipping instructions. Ensure all necessary documentation, including packing slips, is included.
Quality Inspection: Perform a final visual inspection before sealing packages to ensure all components are accounted for and properly packed.
Palletizing: Safely load packed servers and server racks onto pallets for transport and secure them for shipping, ensuring stability and proper weight distribution.
Inventory Management: Track the number of packed units and report any discrepancies in quantities to the supervisor or inventory control team.
Compliance with Safety Standards: Follow all company safety protocols when handling heavy and delicate equipment, ensuring the use of proper tools and protective gear.
Collaboration: Work closely with the shipping and logistics teams to coordinate shipments and meet deadlines.
Continuous Improvement: Identify ways to improve packing processes for increased efficiency and damage prevention.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Previous experience in packing, shipping, or warehouse operations preferred.
Skills:
o Ability to follow detailed packing instructions and procedures.
o Experience handling fragile and heavy equipment safely.
o Familiarity with basic packing materials and equipment, such as pallets, shrink wrap, and foam inserts. o Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate packing and labeling.
o Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move heavy items, including servers and server racks.
Standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
Use of hand tools, pallet jacks, and other equipment for packaging and loading.
