Job Title: Server
Department: Food Service
Reports to: Executive Chef, Food and Nutrition Manager, Food Service Supervisor
Status: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
The Server at McKnight Place Extended Care is responsible for providing quality meals to residents. The Server also represents McKnight Place Extended Care to the residents, their guests, families and the community. Each employee makes a significant contribution to our success in fulling our mission to safely provide the highest quality services, programs and facilities possible to enhance the quality of life for each resident, each and every day.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES
The essential duties and responsibilities described below are representative, but not necessarily all-inclusive, of the position:
- Set dining room tables and room service trays.
- Serve and clear all dining room tables.
- Follow proper serving technique
- Uses proper handwashing techniques.
- Deliver and collect room service trays.
- Assist in preparing, covering, label and dating of food and beverages items. Ensure proper rotation of all foods items.
- Use and care for all kitchen equipment in the correct manner.
- Follows policies and procedures as set by the Executive Chef, Director of Food Service, and Dining room supervisor in all areas of duties, as outlines in the employee Handbook.
- Reports Maintenance and safety items to the Director of Maintenance and Executive chef when observed, or to the MOD if on the weekend.
- Ensure a clean and organized work space.
- Completes all restocking of supplies, small wares in service stations. Stock utensils needed in the dining room for each meal period.
- Delivers all food items on server trays to each resident.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned by the Food and Nutrition Manager and supervisor.
- Observe all OSHA requirements.
- Identify all emergency situations and initiate appropriate procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: | None.. |
Experience: | Six months serving experience preferred. |
Reasoning Skills: | Ability to understand and follow directions. |
Oral/Written Communication Skills: | Ability to read, write, and speak English. Ability to interact pleasantly and effectively with staff, residents and families, and possess clear verbal and written communication skills. |
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Constantly using arms and hands, organizing, consulting, planning, and documenting.
2. Frequently sitting, standing, bending, handling, and grasping.
3. Occasionally walking, lifting items up to 25lbs, and assisting residents with walking or pushing wheelchairs.
4. Adequate hearing and vision.
5. Constantly understanding and compliance with instruction and policies.
6. Constantly working in inside conditions, with chemicals and equipment.
7. Occasionally working with fumes, odor and dust.
8. Constantly working alone and occasionally with others.
