About the Job
The Service Manager position in Sheldon, Iowa is primarily responsible for leading the Service department and scheduling/communicating with customers and coordinating auto repairs with technicians. Ensure that the company's customers are satisfied with the repair work performed.
Primary Job Duties
Job duties for the Service Manager include:
· Schedule service appointments for customer’s autos for repair, service or warranty work.
· Keep parts inventory and records up to date, source parts and any other duties while assisting the service advisor(s)
· Contact current customers and advise them to bring vehicles to their unit for inspection & repairs under the vehicle scheduled maintenance or warranty program.
· Listen to customer concerns and assist in addressing their issues and resolving challenges.
· Maintains efficient communications within the department and works efficiently with other departments.
· Help assign and schedule work duties to auto service staff according to their skills.
· If needed, assist service technicians with auto repair services.
· Follow up with customers to obtain feedback and ensure they are satisfied with the received service.
· Stay up-to-date with developments in the automotive service industry
· Complete other tasks or projects assigned by dealership management
Desired Education & Qualifications
· High school diploma with post high school education preferred in the technical field. 6+ years of prior sales & supervisory experience desired with 3-4 years in Automotive Industry required (parts and/or service). Mechanical and technical aptitude is needed. Prior participation in various management development training courses and seminars is also desirable.

· Communication Skills: Able to effectively interact with co-workers, peers, customers and employees to resolve issues. Must have the ability to interface with customers in order to facilitate repair processes to meet customers’ needs.
· Technical Skills: Well versed in conducting vehicle inspections to identify faults and initiate repairs to customers’ vehicles.
· Must be able to plan, direct and delegate work to others.
· Knowledge of basic Computer programs and operation (Microsoft Word and Excel)
· Exercise discretion and solid judgment.
· Possess time management skills.
· Detail-oriented and able to plan and carryout projects independently.
· Effective interface with all levels of employees and management.
· Must be able to demonstrate professional behavior in all aspects of the position.
