Job Description:
Manage the supply base and purchase of all required goods and services as assigned to ensure purchased items are ordered in a timely and cost-effective manner to maintain production efficiencies and on time customer delivery.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES:
- Purchase goods and services as required.
- Negotiate contracts, sourcing new suppliers/products, if needed, de-sourcing suppliers,
- Expedite supply to meet emergencies, short lead time, demands according to service, project and inventory supply needs, and utilizing existing systems to develop and monitor performance toward goals.
- Support new product development. This will include sourcing new suppliers/products, leading efforts on make vs. buy analyses, accurately and in a timely manner, processes design engineering change notices for material maintenance and additions as required, quoting, and negotiating contract terms, participating in quality system audits, participating in contract design reviews, and coordinating product launch activities.
- Continuous improvement of supplier performance and departmental procedures. This will include working with department personnel to evaluate and implement continuous improvement activities for supplier reporting systems, developing detailed cost reduction programs, evaluating, and improving internal procedures and staying abreast of new trends in the materials field.
- Effective project management skills including development, review, and on-going oversight of assigned commodities that increase product effectiveness, supplier retention and company profitability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree or two years college with three- to five-years work experience or masters degree or high school graduate with six- to ten-years work experience.
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Excel, Word, PeopleSoft (JDE)
- Sense of urgency.
- Good Negotiation skills.
