POSITION SUMMARY:
- This position supports the goals and activities of the Facilities Director.
- Will assume the position of Service Supervisor and be directly responsible for keeping facilities and lab equipment fully functional through the use of yearly maintenance and repair programs.
- Will perform and document preventative maintenance and repairs of medical instruments and other devices or equipment used in the field of Ophthalmology.
- Will provide direction and training to assigned personnel in order to maintain medical equipment is in proper working order.
- Will interpret and effectively utilize service manuals, schematics and other applicable service information as required to perform job duties.
- Will provide assistance with the building maintenance and construction projects as needed. Assists with medical equipment or furniture relocation as necessary.
- Assists in evaluating new equipment for purchase. Monitors the inventory of Biomedical equipment to ensure minimum disruption of patient care.
- Manages the "After Hours on-call Program. Participates in face-to-face or zoom meetings as requested.
- The annual completion of assigned Learning Management System (LMS) courses is mandatory. Any individual who has not completed their assigned training prior to November 30th of each year may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the Facilities Director in the procurement, installation and maintenance of medical equipment and facilities.
- Manages and maintains all applicable equipment warranties and service agreements
- Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the EANM equipment inventory database
- Manages yearly cleaning and maintenance of phoropters, refractors, slit lamps, tonometers and other ophthalmic instruments at each clinic location.
- Reconfigures, adjusts and otherwise maintains lane and lab-based equipment through the practice on an annual basis & upon request
- Tests the functionality of equipment and reconfigures it to original specifications as applicable
- Point of contact for assisting and training medical support staff in the correct operation of medical equipment
- Coordinates the installation of new equipment with clinic staff, vendors and re-sellers
- Facilitates the relocation of any equipment within and between clinics or temporary storage units.
- Works closely with Information Services staff in the diagnosis/repair of any computer-based medical equipment and/or equipment that is connected or interfaced to the EANM network
- Maintains a current knowledge and understanding of equipment used in the field of ophthalmology
- Exhibits behaviors which create a high level of patient and employee satisfaction, which maintains
- the credibility, integrity and positive image which supports the mission, goals and operations of
- Eye Associates and contributes to continuous performance improvement
- Assists by managing facility maintenance and construction projects as needed.
- Responsible for documenting preventative maintenance and repairs of medical equipment, instruments and systems.
- Manages after-hours and on-call programs designed to support the organization during holidays, evenings and weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- A demonstrated knowledge in the care, maintenance and use of biomedical equipment within a specialized medical group practice or health system.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience servicing medical equipment. A minimum of 3 years in the position of Biomed Tech in an ophthalmology practice.
- Typing skills of at least 35 words per minute is desirable.
