What you'll do
As the Service Trainer and Technician for Blue Arc™ (a Shyft Brand) based at our R&D facility in Plymouth, MI, you will enjoy developing training materials, delivering hands-on service training, and providing technical support for electric vehicle (EV) field issue resolution.
You will also be involved with training field service technicians, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing mechanical and electrical vehicle components. In addition, you will be accountable for ensuring timely warranty work, retrofits, and preventive maintenance for customer vehicles across North America.

What you'll do
As the Service Trainer and Technician for Blue Arc™ (a Shyft Brand) based at our R&D facility in Plymouth, MI, you will enjoy developing training materials, delivering hands-on service training, and providing technical support for electric vehicle (EV) field issue resolution.
You will also be involved with training field service technicians, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing mechanical and electrical vehicle components. You will also:
- Develop field service training materials, including presentations and hands-on training aids
- Conduct service training for Shyft Group and 3rd party technicians at various locations
- Provide field support for customer vehicles, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and electrical issues
- Perform data collection using CAN interfaces, dataloggers, and instrumentation systems
- Conduct routine equipment servicing, inspections, and troubleshooting of failures
- Install, test, and maintain equipment, ensuring preventive maintenance is conducted
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and meet customer objectives
- Complete required forms and documentation to maintain service records
- Travel approximately 50-75%, with a mix of local (Southeast Michigan) and national locations
What you need to be successful
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proficient in diagnostics, wiring and mechanical troubleshooting
- A reputation for being attentive to detail, safety-oriented, and committed to high standards
- Expertise in utilizing hand and power tools
- Valid driver's license, ability to obtain a passport, and pass a DOT physical
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including outdoor environments
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel 50-75% (mix of Southeast Michigan and nationwide)
- Associate, Bachelor's, or a technical degree
- Experience with CAN interfaces and CANalyzer, BUSMASTER, ATI VISION, or similar software
- Knowledge of datalogging and data collection for vehicle testing or troubleshooting
- Experience with the manufacturing and construction of Walk-In Vans, Truck Bodies, and Van Upfit vehicles
- Expertise working as a Field Service Technician
