Essential Functions
- The SharePoint Architect's role is to construct and implement the technical design for the organization's administrative Electronic Document Management (EDM) systems, for internal SharePoint sites, and for public-facing websites.
- This includes the selection ofapplication hardware and software platforms, providing technical guidance on the use of SharePoint as an application framework, capacity planning, and analyzing traffic patterns. This individual will manage technical staff.
- The person in this position will contribute strategic vision and integrate a broad range of ideas for applications development.
- S/he will apply development expertise across the organization and serve as a resource for resolution of unique or complex application
- development problems. Additionally, this person will provide technical guidance for complex application development projects which
- usually impacts multiple business units and involves decisions on complex or ambiguous application development issues.
- Partner with University clients to plan technological solutions that enhance business processes and support the strategic direction of the University
- Work flow study and analysis of business practices
- Perform analysis of business practices for new applications, enhancements, and bug fixes Application development
- Provide guidance on the best architectural solution within SharePoint, based on the requirements. Understand the "art of the possible”.
- Prepare designs, technical specifications, and documentation for new applications, application enhancements, and bug fixes
- Evaluate vendor solutions
- Project management for technological and business solutions
- Manage software vendors and external service providers
- Coordinate activities of the project team, plan and monitor project schedules and costs, and take corrective action to stay on schedule
- Cultivate and foster superior customer service relationships including reviewing project priorities with key users
- Support, Create, document, schedule, and support operational activities including database backups and recoveries
- Perform support for SharePoint, including design, maintenance, and performance tuning
- Provide off hours support & Leadership
- Ensure adherence to departmental standards
- Act as a source of direction, training, and guidance for less experienced staff
- Recruit and supervise staff: set expectations, monitor progress, and provide formal and informal feedback
- Provide guidance for professional development
- Undergraduate degree plus 3 years of Sharepoint Administration Experience OR
- High school diploma or Equivalent plus 5 years of Sharepoint Administration Experience
- Extensive experience evaluating, designing, and implementing administrative computer systems
- Possesses strong technical skills in SharePoint 2010 & 2013, InfoPath 2010 & 2013, IIS 7. 7.5, and 8
- Extensive experience with design, implementation, and support of relational databases which integrate with web-based
- applications
- Understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA) deployments with ability to design applications built with correct emphasis
- on these elements
- Possess knowledge of various database access methods
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of object and component methodology and technology
- Possess basic knowledge of classes, components, objects, and interfaces
- Recognize the fundamental differences between the various internet browsers.
- Working knowledge of PowerShell
- Graduate or professional degree
- Prior experience in a higher education technology environment
- Background with business Information Systems at the management or business analyst level in an academic environment
- Experience using ISA Server and F5 for load balancing and authentication
- Working knowledge of DataView webparts, search-based applications, term stores, and BCS
- Strong proficiency with PowerShell
