Position Description:
As a Sheet Metal Associate, you will be responsible for troubleshooting,
preventative maintenance, and repair of sheet metal equipment, products,
and structures in the Goodyear Tire & Rubber plant. You will also
promote safety, environmental stewardship, and housekeeping throughout
the facility.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal
parts, products, and equipment, utilizing knowledge of working
characteristics of metallic and non-metallic materials, machining
and lay out techniques, using hand-tools, power tools, machines, and
equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or products specifications
to determine sequence and methods of fabrication, assembling, and
installing sheet metal products.
- Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on materials, apply
knowledge of shop mathematics and lay-out techniques to develop and
trace patterns to product or parts.
- Set up and operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes,
presses, and forming rolls, to cut, bend, block and form or
straighten materials.
- Shape materials over anvil, block, or other forms, using hand tools.
Trim, file, grind, buff, and smooth surfaces, using hand tools and
portable power tools. Weld, solder, bolt, rivet, screw, clip, caulk,
and bond component parts to assemble products, using hand tools,
power tools, and equipment.
- Inspect assemblies and installation for conformance to
specifications, using measuring instruments required.
- Abide by safe work standards including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Fall
Protection, Confined Spaces, and appropriate use of Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Adhere to Goodyears attendance policy.
- Perform a variety of manual tasks in varying temperatures for
extended periods of time, which may include lifting light to heavy
materials, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at
heights when applicable.
