Our Shelter Custodian will work in our Main Shelter performing routine cleaning and custodial duties in an effort to ensure guests have a safe and clean environment to reside in. This part-time (up to 24 hours per week), on-site, hourly role reports to the Operations Coordinator and offers somewhat flexible scheduling, though mornings are preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities :
Perform general cleaning throughout the Main Shelter facility, including restrooms, kitchens, trash removal, and heavy traffic floor maintenance using cleaning supplies and equipment including floor buffers.
Inventory and maintain stock of essential job-related supplies.
Maintain exterior walkways, stairs, and sidewalks for safety including snow and ice removal when needed.
General cleaning assistance as needed to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our staff and guests.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Prior janitorial/professional cleaning experience is required.
Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
Knowledge of and ability to safely operate basic equipment and cleaning supplies (which may include various cleaning chemicals) used in the course of normal janitorial functions.
Experience working in residential settings / multi-dwelling housing facilities is preferred.
Ability and willingness to learn and utilize technology used in the course of executing the role, including Microsoft Office software and work order systems required.
Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to independently prioritize tasks and balance multiple priorities in a face paced environment.
Demonstrated experience for autonomous and independent decision making.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Regular and predictable onsite attendance and reliable transportation are required during the scheduled hours for this position, including during inclement weather.

Part Time Staff of Homeless Solutions accrue paid sick leave and are eligible to participate in a 401k retirement plan which offers a 6% employer match for contributed funds.

Rate of pay starts at $18.00 per hour
