The Shelter Manager works with the Residential Services Director, Clinical Director and Facilities Director, and reports directly to the Residential Services Director. The Shelter Manager provides leadership and acts as an excellent role model for all Youth Advocates to ensure the highest level of care and positive support for shelter residents. The Shelter Manager is directly responsible for the training and oversight of Youth Advocates. |
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that shelter care is performed according to OCYFS's mission, policies & procedures, funding performance indicators, and OCYFS's vision and beliefs.
- Identifies training needs for youth advocates & coordinates and documents individual training.
- Trains and mentors all new and veteran youth advocates as needed.
- Participates in interviews for all potential new youth advocates as scheduled by the Residential Services Director.
- Ensures proper medication administration and documentation.
- Reviews youth advocate client file & log documentation for timely entries & adequate information.
- Ensures organization and adequate inventory of expendable supplies and notifies the appropriate staff member of any needs.
- Monitors cleanliness, organization & functionality of all shelter areas, furnishings & equipment.
- Conducts and assists with client intakes and discharges as needed in addition to checking the completion of closed out files.
- Attends and assists with client activities as needed and in cooperation and coordination with the Residential Services Director.
- Accepts and documents shelter donations as needed.
- Assists with the supervision, care, and safety of shelter residents during routine shifts.
- Participates in weekly shelter client staff meeting to share & learn information about individual clients.
- Participates in agency performance quality improvement and serves on assigned committees.
- Assists with the development of a yearly plan that supports OCYFS's long-term strategic goals.
- Reviews performance quality improvement reports to identify areas of needed improvement and participates in developing and implementing solutions to improve the quality of services.
- Participates in on-call rotation as scheduled by the Clinical Director.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree preferred in a related field plus on years' experience in managing a childcare facility or a High School Diploma/GED and three years' experience in managing a childcare facility.
- Experience working with at-risk youth.
- Pass a drug screen and maintain a current TB card.
- Must have a current Arkansas Driver's license and insurable under OCYFS's commercial vehicle insurance policy.
- Must receive child maltreatment clearance through the Arkansas Child Maltreatment Central Registry.
- Must receive adult maltreatment clearance through Arkansas Protective Services-Adult Maltreatment Central Registry.
- Must receive Arkansas State Police criminal background clearance as mandated by Arkansas Department of Human Services, Minimum Licensing Standards for Child Welfare Agencies.
