About the Job
Under the guidance of the Sheriff’s Senior Rangemaster and the Commander of Professional Standards and Training, the Sheriff’s Rangemaster (Program Manager I/II) will oversee a wide range of responsibilities at the Sheriff’s Range Facility. This position manages the daily operations of the facility, including maintenance, scheduling of Sheriff’s Office range usage, and inventory management of range supplies such as ammunition and targets. Key duties include conducting routine maintenance and annual inspections of department-owned firearms and designated employee-owned firearms.
A core responsibility of the position is coordinating quarterly firearm qualifications. As the primary rangemaster, the successful candidate will facilitate these qualifications, maintain records, and ensure compliance with training standards. Additional duties may include providing firearms training to Sheriff’s Office personnel and outside agency employees as part of the Firearms Instructor Cadre. The position may also involve developing courses of fire, including those for quarterly department qualifications.Distinguishing Characteristics:
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional who excels both independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and clear communication abilities are essential. Experience as a sworn law enforcement officer and in firearms handling is required.
