Job Location: Sentinel/Leer South Mining Complex (Philippi, WV)
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
Assist in the development and supervision of the underground mine; supervise the Section Foreman and hourly personnel in the extraction of coal, construction, and preparation activities. Must also help coordinate all daily activities of the mine and make decisions concerning manpower and supplies.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Coordinate mine site shift activities related to continuous mining / longwall production, maintenance, outby projects, and coal handling
- Plan, organize, schedule, and oversee all production and maintenance projects on the assigned shift
- Oversee outby projects such as belt moves, power moves, belt drive installations, and construction related projects
- Implement all safety policies and procedures related to an injury free work environment
- Actively support and promote Behavior Based Safety program
- Develop, implement, and monitor cost reduction plans and productivity improvements
- Examine daily requirements for manpower and supplies
MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 10 years diverse coal mining experience
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and analytical skills
- Previous proven underground supervisory experience - strong leadership ability
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of general mining practices, and State and Federal mining laws
- Excellent organizational skills
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills, and the knowledge and ability to make decisions relative to safety, production, maintenance, and law
- WV Mine Foreman Certification (current)
