The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving and unloading incoming goods, verifying goods with documentation, and process the documentation in accordance with local policies.
Responsibilities
MAJOR JOB ACTIVIES:
+ Performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods and receiving incoming shipments.
+ May direct and coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods to be shipped or being received.
+ Verifies the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records
+ Verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against the DD Form 1348 documents.
+ Ensure that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles.
+ Prepare and keep records of goods shipped, e.g., DD Form 1348, bill of lading.
+ Checks for damaged goods.
+ Operates a variety of equipment such as forklift, cherry picker or stand-up lift.
+ Ensures that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
+ Must be able to operate in a warehouse and outdoor type environment.
+ Must be able to walk on uneven ground and within work various sites and withstand prolonged periods of standing for 6-8 hours a day in performance of duties.
+ Work requires continuous walking, standing and sitting.
+ Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
+ Work requires extensive interaction with customer. Must comply with published Company work rules.
+ Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as protective mask, safety vest, steel or composite shoes/boots, safety gloves, hard hat and eyewear in certain areas.
+ Work will typically be in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
+ There may be times when an employee is exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions.
+ May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays under pressure and strenuous conditions.
+ Duties may involve the conduct of work in the out of outdoors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ High School Diploma or equivalent. One-year related experience may be substituted for one ear of education, if degree is required.
+ Specific contractual requirements regarding education and experience prevail where applicable.
+ Must be able to obtain a Forklift license
+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)
+ Valid Driver’s License
+ Must be able to pass a pre- employment drug screen.
EXPERIENCE:
+ Storage and warehouse functions and associated experience in computer support systems applicable to the requisition, receipt, storage, issue, and associated warehousing functions.
+ 1 year Forklift experience preferred
SKILLS:
+ Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
